Download Gender Data for Names
If you’re conducting audience or demographic research for social media, a critical component for many brands is knowing the gender of their audiences. While Google & YouTube make this data available to YouTube channel owners and anyone running Google Ads for their own properties, it can sometimes be helpful to know the gender composition of other audiences that you don’t own (for example a competing or similar YouTube channel).
To help with this, Genderize offers an API which will accept a name and return the most likely gender along with a probability score. This will allow you to guess the overall gender of an audience, just by scraping their names, which is very easy to do for Instagram follower lists, YouTube commenters & Twitter followers.
While Genderize does offer a tool to perform bulk CSV processing (which you should use if you already have a list of names), we also support their API on our platform here so you can link their service to other workflows we provide. For example, you can set up a Twitter Followers Scraper Workflow with our service, and then create a Genderize workflow here, then link the output of the follower names to the Genderize workflow to look up the genders. This can sound a little complicated, so please reach out to our support chat widget if you need help with this.
You can also check out some of Genderize’s sister apps and services, which will try to guess the age & nationality just by using the name of an individual. Although, we expect these results to be a lot more fuzzy as it’s much easier to predict gender from a name than these other 2 attributes.
